Experience The Snow Goose Hunt Of A Lifetime

The image above depicts an often seen image on fields of North Dakota during Spring Snow Goose Hunting. The snow geese come in with flocks of tens of thousands of birds. You see tornados of Snow Geese on the distant horizon for as far as you can see. These are magnificent birds to watch take flight 20,000 strong while the ground shakes under your feet. The Snow Goose Hunt is something every hunter needs to experience. Please contact us about Spring Snow Goose Hunting Rates.

Spring Snow Goose Hunting Typical Day

4:30 A.M.
Morning starts early here on the prairie. Once you've got your feet on the floor and selected your attire for the morning's hunt, you'll find breakfast and hot coffee waiting. After breakfast, your guide will be waiting and ready to go in the Suburban.
6:00 A.M.
You'll be in the field and carefully setting your spread. For many of our guests this never-perfect art form is one of the great challenges in the sport of hunting. Your guide will share many years of trial and error as he places over three hundred, full-bodied decoys to attract flocks of birds that will soon fill the sky.
7:00 A.M.
Your heart will be pounding as you hear the first call of the incoming geese. Now it's time to wait, gun in hand, until you hear the words, "Take 'em."

During the first hour of daylight, your spread will attract early morning mallards, but be careful -- they can come out of nowhere and be gone before you know it. Your hunt will continue throughout the morning. With generous limits of birds per gun, this won't be a half-hour exercise. You'll have time to watch a prairie sunrise, drink hot coffee, and share tales of hunts past with your guide and hunting partners. This is hunting like it is supposed to be.

1:00 P.M.
It's time to pull your spread and head back to the lodge. Once you've changed your clothes, gather for lunch. You'll find a great menu to choose from and a wonderful staff of folks waiting to serve you.
3:00 P.M.
After a nice lunch and a nap, you will head back out to the field for your choice of a partridge/grouse or duck hunt.
7:00 P.M.
Enjoy your favorite beverages and share with your friends the adventures of your day's hunt.

The balance of the evening is up to you. Party if you can, but remember, 4:30 a.m. comes pretty early.

Guided Snow Goose Hunts

One guide to every four to eight hunters will accompany the group out to the hunting area in the morning. The way to ruin a great hunting experience is to try to accommodate too many guns over a given spread. Therefore, at Mouse River, we hunt a minimum of four guns and a maximum of eight guns for each of our hunters to adequately cover the spread and, at the same time, offer the finest possible shooting opportunity for each of our guests. We offer all day hunts that will include a morning waterfowl hunt followed by an afternoon hunt for grouse and pheasant. Are You Ready To Book Your Goose Hunting Trip? Click Here

Bigger Guided Snow Goose Hunts Than Ever Before

While there are more birds than ever before, there is little question that the birds are getting smarter. However, surrounded by two large federal refuges, Mouse River Outfitters will have access to as many as 750,000 geese as they make their first stop on their
southbound migrations. For Hollis Larson and Danny Schreckenbach, hunting these wonderful birds is not really a sport . . . it’s a science. With literally thousands of acres of grain to feed on, the secret of this adventure is to be mobile. Each Mouse River Outfitter guide will have his own trailer with 50 - 100 dozen full-bodied and silhouette decoys. The primary component of Mouse River Outfitters success is the ability to scout. Each afternoon Mouse River Outfitters’ guides drive three to five hours to find the perfect field for the next day’s hunt. This tedious task is a lot more complicated than just finding birds. It is imperative to find the right field, to choose the exact spot (that you will need to find long before daylight the next morning), and to take into consideration the wind and the flight patterns
of the tens of thousands of geese as they leave the refuge to feed. Often, a sudden weather change makes it necessary to rethink your strategy. That is why every guide must choose not one, but multiple fields for the next day’s shoot. Once the decoys are set, it won’t take long until these majestic birds set their wings and the action begins. The only thing left is to pull the trigger. The success or failure of that endeavor is up to you. Download Our Brochure
